The Lake District

The Lake District has a never ending supply of wonderful walks and views. Barrow is only a 20 minute drive to the Lake District National Park.

We recommend booking a heritage steam train journey from Haverthwaite railway station, less than 30 minutes from the hotel, to take you to the edge of Lake Windemere. There you can join the steamer that cruises the Lake making stops at Bowness, Ambleside and Wray Castle for a beautiful walk into the beautifully preserved village of Hawkshead.

Taking the steam train and steam boat has the added bonus of less traffic and easier parking. You can book tickets by clicking here.
